New Club Ladies Singles Champion – Rutherglen Bowling Club
RUTHERGLEN BC LADIES SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP
The Final of the Ladies Club Singles Championship between Yvonne Williamson and Claire Megarrity was a titanic encounter between two of our best lady bowlers, on Thursday 18th of January.
Yvonne picked up 3 shots on the first 3 ends, but Claire replied gaining 6 shots on the next 3 ends to lead 6/3. Yvonne score 2 singles on ends 7 & 8, and Claire replied with 4 shots over the next 3 ends to lead 10/5 after 11 ends. Yvonne scored 5 shot in the next 3 ends to level the score at 10 all. Scores were level after 19 ends at 13 all. Scoring 6 shots each over the next 6 ends saw them tied at 19 all after 25 ends. Yvonne scored 3 shots in the next 2 ends to lead 22/19, and Claire replied with single shots on ends 29 & 30, after being down 4 shots on end 30, produced a resting toucher to stay in the contest, and trail 21/22. Yvonne scored the required 3 shots to claim victory on end 30, 25/21, in what was a very high quality & fitting final in such a prestigious event enjoyed by all in attendance.
